These two get mixed up more than anything else on the site, and it’s an easy mistake to make, both are handmade, both use bold African print fabric, and both sit under the same Mimi Joi roof. Here’s the difference.
Mimi Joi products
Scrunchies, beauty bags and matching sets are Erica’s own handmade commercial collection, made by her, sold to fund the business itself. This is the range you’ll find across most of the shop.
ACAP Made
ACAP Made pieces are created by members of ACAP’s own Peer Support groups, Create Connections and Therapeutic Thursdays, the two sessions Erica runs in Bradford. These are separate items made by different hands, kept in their own category rather than folded into the main Mimi Joi range, because the story behind them is different.
Why keep them apart
Buying something from either range is worthwhile either way, but they’re not the same thing being relabelled. Mimi Joi is Erica’s own handmade business. ACAP Made is community work, made through peer support sessions at a Bradford charity. Keeping them as separate collections means neither story gets lost in the other.
You can browse both from the Shop page, or read more about ACAP Made directly.
